Strong growing herbaceous plant with large pale green slightly hairy leaves and tall stems carrying large blue flowers in summer. Best in good rich fertile slightly acidic soil with plenty of organic matter added before planting. Benefits from a mulch of compost and rotted manure in autumn. Here in the Scottish Highlands, we grow them in the open but in warmer areas, they are best in cool sheltererd spot.
